If you can listen to music and sing along with a song, then you can memorize Romans 8! We are putting Romans 8 to music and have two songs available for downloading (covering Romans 8: 1-6)….3 more songs are written and are waiting to be recorded. Check back often for updates!

2. Download PDF’s of Flash Cards

This tool has been enormously helpful as people can just print out and cut the cards. When you see the verses broken down into smaller bits, it seems do-able!

3. Listen to Josie Coleman reading Romans 8 and download it.

Josie has a special gift for reading the word of God. When she reads it, one actually understands the meaning better. This can help us all listen to the context and meaning as we put the word in our hearts.

4. Games: Fill in the Blank and First Letters

Fill in the Blank - Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced is a great way to see how much you know already!

First Letters - Helps prompt you with the first letter of every word…several translations available.

5. Encouragement…watch what others are doing!

Just when you thing you can’t do it or you are getting stuck…watch others who are figuring it out along side you. We are posting your videos and your ideas and your progress. We are all in this together! Very few of us have ever done anything like this before and are really taking a leap of faith in committing to memorize an entire chapter!

BONUS: Find someone to memorize with!

It will help to have a buddy, or to ask your small group to join you, send an email to your family and friends and invite them to plunge into this journey with you, or blog your journey. We have received so many emails about small groups, churches and families who are memorizing together and we can’t wait to hear stories of how God will transform lives through His word.

Josie has a gift for reading scripture and she has been an integral part of our previous Colossian Project. She has a special ability to communicate the words and we hope it will bless you as it has touched us. We broke it into three parts…so that you can locate sections more easily on your ipods.

“I wanted to let you know about yesterday. For the record, when my husband Pete read about Romans 8 he felt compelled to memorize it. But yesterday struck me. We were at Baystate Hospital. Our 4 year old daughter Ava was lying down sedated while getting an MRI of her brain. We were by her side. Out of Pete’s back pocket he pulled his printup of Romans 8 and started working on his memorizing. There I was, anxious and nervous as to my beloved daughter’s brain MRI, with her sedated and strapped in to my right and Pete memorizing Romans 8 on my left. The merge of the two struck me. If I remember correctly, your friend that inspired the Romans 8 movement suffered an AVM (which by the way has also inflicted my family, grandmother and uncle). There, in that sterile hospital room Romans 8 was being read and memorized while the prospect of a brain malformation was being determined on a little 4 year old girl. It just really struck me.”

This is a follow up I received from Melanie after getting the results of the MRI:

“Good news recently received is that Ava’s brain MRI was normal (no malformations!). Ava has global motor delays that has to date been unidentifiable as to the cause. She receives speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. She has underwent much testing. This was actually her 3rd MRI in the last year. A lot of blood work and other lab work has been done. She has been a real trooper. We’re awaiting some genetic testing results next month. Although it would be great to identify what’s causing her delays, it’s a bittersweet thing as we don’t want the cause to be too severe. She has recently displayed regression in terms of her tremors and ability to perform tasks. She is a courageous, creative and silly little girl. Your prayers for her would be cherished.

Although I don’t know Katherine, I’m sure she would be overjoyed knowing that her life and struggle has impacted so many in such wonderful ways. In your own words… “I have been overwhelmed by God’s goodness and the miracles he is doing in people’s lives and hearts everyday.” To Him be the glory forever!!!”

Let us be joining together in community and praying for one another and encouraging one another by how God is moving in our own lives and through each other. Right now Romans8movement is a small mustard seed, but I beleive by puting God’s word in our hearts and lives He will do the unthinkable through us! What a thrill to be a part of this genereation, this movement and what God is doing in hearts and lives throughout the world!

JT turns his mobile phone camera on himself while driving to work and shares some of the cool things that are happening to us as we begin the journey of memorizing Romans 8 and are also putting it to music.

God is connecting us with other christians that have also been drawn to Romans 8 recently. It is exciting to feel a part of a larger movement….the movement of the Spirit of God through his body - all over the world.

“It was supposed to be a joyous time for Katherine Wolf. She was a new mother and had just been a contestant on “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader.” Then life dealt 26-year-old a near-fatal blow. Gigi Graciette was at UCLA with more on one family’s unshakable faith.”

Katherine is the inspiration for www.romans8movement.com (read our ‘what is it?’ page for more details) and I hope that whether you know her or not, that this news clip helps inspire you! Katherine memorized Romans 8 and knew the value of putting scripture in your heart…and her life and story are inspiring a revival. It is a wake up call to all of us!
